About Onondaga County Criminal History

Onondaga County criminal information is divided among the Sheriff, courts in Syracuse and surrounding towns, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), NYS DOCCS, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. This privately run site organizes those official routes so readers can identify the right portal, clerk, address, or telephone number without treating separate records as one universal file.

Why We Built This Site

New York records are split by custodian and purpose. The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office holds its own incident, arrest, warrant, booking, and custody material. Court clerks maintain filed charges and dispositions, while WebCriminal and OCA Criminal History Record Search provide different views of public court data. DCJS keeps fingerprint-linked criminal histories and permits personal record review rather than a public name search. NYS DOCCS and the New York State Sex Offender Registry add separate custody, supervision, and registration sources. This site brings the verified routes, fees, and contact details into one reference.

What You Will Find Here

  • Agency contacts: where to reach the Onondaga County Sheriff, local criminal clerks, and New York record systems
  • Record guides: how to use the Court Case Lookup resources and interpret local case results
  • Official check routes: how OCA name-based searches differ from fingerprint-based DCJS Personal Record Review
  • Record sealing information: where New York sealing rules and court procedures fit into a personal record review

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of an Onondaga County or New York government office. Its role has firm limits:

  • We cannot issue a certified case file, rap sheet, or other official record
  • We cannot submit FOIL requests, record-sealing papers, or court filings for a visitor
  • We cannot retrieve another person's DCJS criminal history or perform an official check
  • We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, conviction, or sealed matter
  • We cannot promise that an agency's hours, fees, or procedures have not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as the Sheriff, court clerk, OCA, or DCJS, can supply or certify the official version.

Search Partners

Outside providers power some search boxes shown on this site. Each provider controls its service, results, privacy practices, and prices. A paid enrollment reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports the site. We neither set a partner's charges nor guarantee that its result is complete, current, or matched to the correct person.
