An Arrest Is Not a Conviction
An arrest does not establish guilt. A prosecutor may decline or change charges, a court may dismiss a case or enter a favorable disposition, and a booking record does not show the final outcome. New York records may also be corrected or sealed under laws such as CPL 160.50, 160.57, 160.58, or 160.59. An older copy can therefore misstate present status. Verify the disposition with the court clerk, arresting agency, or DCJS as appropriate.
Use a result as a lead, not a verdict; only the maintaining office can confirm its current content and public availability.
Verify With the Official Source
Site content is not an official record. Confirm a court date through the clerk or WebCriminal, a warrant or custody status with the proper law-enforcement office, a personal fingerprint-linked history with DCJS, and a registry listing with the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Only the custodian can issue an official or certified copy. New York FOIL, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs access to agency records, subject to its exemptions; it does not make a private site's summary official.
