Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of this website. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you agree to them. If you do not accept every condition below, do not continue using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, New York State, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offer a service for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions, or for another use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site identifies Onondaga County criminal-record resources. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not keep official criminal records, retrieve them for visitors, perform official checks, or submit filings.

Its content identifies Onondaga County sources such as the Sheriff's Office, local court clerks, OCA WebCriminal, DCJS Personal Record Review, NYS DOCCS, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, applies to agency records and does not make this private site a government records office. Executive Law § 837 defines DCJS criminal-history responsibilities and does not create a general public rap-sheet search.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use automated bots or scrapers against the pages
  • Gain, or attempt to gain, unauthorized system access
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Disrupt performance or interfere with another visitor's access
  • Violate federal, New York State, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from the site or a linked service to threaten, intimidate, stalk, harass, or discriminate against anyone. The rule is especially important for New York State Sex Offender Registry information. DCJS warns that using registry data to commit a crime or engage in illegal discrimination or harassment can lead to civil or criminal penalties. Registry information supports public safety awareness, not vigilantism or blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners also do not provide a site service intended for FCRA screening. You must not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Assess credit or establish an insurance premium
  • Evaluate a renter or housing application
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally authorized screening purpose requires an appropriate official channel or an FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency. DCJS Personal Record Review is fingerprint-based access to one's own New York criminal history, not a public screening product.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General explanations of Onondaga County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or New York record-sealing law applies to a particular person. Consult a lawyer licensed in New York for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All site content is supplied "as is." We do not warrant that:

  • A partner's search result is complete or accurate
  • Every fact remains current, complete, and correct
  • The pages contain no errors, defects, or security weaknesses
  • Service will remain available without interruption

Charges, case outcomes, and access status change. New York sealing provisions, including CPL 160.50, 160.57, 160.58, and 160.59 where applicable, can also alter public visibility. Gaps may remain, and no site content is an official statement from a court, Sheriff, DCJS, or another agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government sources, court portals, legal organizations, and outside search services that we do not control. Their availability, charges, privacy practices, and content are their responsibility. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Onondaga County Criminal History or its content partners. You may not reproduce, distribute, alter, or create derivative works from that material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the site, including reliance on its content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your site use or violation of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of the site must be filed in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when the updated terms are posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end access at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.

14. Severability

If part of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected provision is modified only as much as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
